The Upskilling Revolution Will Fail If Women Are Left Behind

Nationwide changes such as declining birth rates and digital adoption are shaping labor trends. However, it is the decline in women’s labor force participation that needs to be addressed in order to drive our economic recovery.

The Gender Pay Gap Across the US in 2022

Despite recent social movements to promote equity across our country, little movement has been seen in closing the gender pay gap. Career Corner: Ask a Recruiter

What Needs Updating on LinkedIn and Why?

Did you know that over 90% of recruiters use LinkedIn to find talent and that they use sophisticated searches to find qualified candidates for roles? In order to increase your odds of being found for the roles you want, consider doing the following:

  • Review job descriptions for your target roles. What are the common preferred qualifications? What are the high impact functions in that role? Write down frequently appearing skills, terms, and phrases.
  • Ensure that your LinkedIn reflects your qualifications for desired roles. For example, imagine you’re a teacher transitioning to a customer success role at an ed tech company. Key components of customer success include implementation, adoption, stakeholder engagement, training, and support, so you’ll want to infuse those terms throughout your profile. Focus on the following sections:
    • Headline
    • “Open to Work” feature
    • About Section
    • Experience Section
    • Education Section
    • Skills Section
    • Volunteer Section
  • Follow the company pages for your desired organizations. You can follow up to 1,000! Recruiters can actually conduct advanced searches for candidates who already follow their company pages. Neat, right?
