What Our JobSeekers Say About Our Career Services

Career Corner: Ask a Recruiter

Connecting talent to opportunity is a professional hazard of mine, but I’d like to think that I’d still be referring people to roles even if I didn’t work as a recruiter. The good news is that you don’t have to work in Talent Acquisition to support a job seeker right now!

Check out my tips for lending a helping hand to those who are searching for a  new role:

  • Check-in with job seekers you know - these are tough times and it can feel really overwhelming without a support network
  • If you learn about new roles at your organization or within your broader network, personally share them with job seekers or amplify them more broadly on social media
  • Connect job seekers with hiring managers you know, or offer to put in a good word when you have direct access to a hiring team or organization.
  • Offer to review cover letters, resumes, or LinkedIn profiles if you’ve gotten great feedback about yours in the past or if you’re an experienced hiring manager yourself
  • If you lead a team or are well-connected in the Education world, consider holding office hours or making it known that you’re available for informational calls.

Organizations are hiring! You could be the key to connecting someone you know with a great new role.
