How to Rebrand Your Business

As your business and organization grows, there'll come a time when a rebranding becomes necessary. Rebranding is more than just changing your logo or your business’s Instagram profile picture. The process is really about changing how people think about your brand. Wondering how to approach this process? We'd love to share this article to get you started.

School Rebranding Lessons from the Private Sector

Rebranding your school means change, and change is often scary for organizations that have long histories of tradition—such as school districts. However, when rebranding works, it can powerfully impact your schools. Done well, a rebrand can help boost low enrollment numbers, attract the right talent to your district, and reenergize community engagement.

Refreshing your LinkedIn profile

Haven’t touched your LinkedIn profile in a while? Neither had several job-seekers I spoke with these last two weeks! Here are some quick tips for refreshing a stale profile:

  • Customize your URL! It’s free and takes about 30 seconds.
  • Update your profile photo if it’s been a while, or, if you don’t have one at all. You don’t need a professional headshot - anything taken on a smartphone will suffice (try the portrait mode, on an iphone, for example).
  • Audit your headline - is it your current job title, or a string of random keywords? Try this formula instead: “Job Title or Job Function | 3 - 4 specialized skills, separated by commas | Short sentence sharing the way you add value to a team or organization”
  • Audit your “About” section - Share how you add value to teams and organizations, and how you got to where you are today. This is a great place to also share what you’re passionate about professionally, and any fun side projects or meaningful service you also engage in outside of work.
  • Review your experience section - ensure it’s up-to-date, and that you provide a 2-3 sentence overview of each role. If you’re feeling pressed for time, you can also copy/paste bullets from your resume.
  • Check out your skills section - are the top 3 skills reflective of your most relevant and in-demand skills for your target roles?

And when in doubt, sign-up for LinkedIn Review service for more hands-on support!
