Career Corner: Ask a Recruiter

Identifying Key Stakeholders in a New Role
|
I connected with some of my recruiter colleagues recently to ask what advice they’d share with prospective job seekers these days. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing their insights!
First up, Alina Mitchell, Senior Manager on the Talent Services team here at WorkMonger, provided this advice:
|
“Prior to accepting an offer, job seekers should consider learning more about the various stakeholders they’ll be partnering with, whether they are internal or external to an organization. For example, someone working in Account Management/Implementation/Customer Success for an EdTech Company might spend more time with clients than with their colleagues or manager. Or a district-wide Instructional Coach might spend considerable time with school leaders and teachers across various campuses versus other district-office staff. If that’s the case, consider asking questions to learn about the stakeholders you’ll be partnering with or supporting, and any valuable context that will inform your day-to-day work. You might even inquire if you can meet with any of them before you make a final decision.”
