Career Corner: Ask a Recruiter

For the foreseeable future, networking events and career fairs will likely take place virtually. I’ve attended a few of my own in recent months! I’ve heard from a few JobSeekers who are unsure about the best way to prepare and engage in these events. My pro tips below:

  • Do your research in advance – who will be attending the event?

  • Make sure your resume & LinkedIn are up-to-date.

  • Write out your Personal Value Proposition and have it up on your computer for easy copy/paste - This is a short 2-3 sentence statement which includes your job function, where you currently and have added professional value, and your areas of interest/expertise.

  • Send anyone you connect with a follow-up invitation to connect via LinkedIn.

  • Take the initial conversation out of the chat and to a future Zoom, phone, or distant in-person meeting!

Need expert help in navigating the job search process, along with plenty of templates for connecting with recruiters and hiring managers? Our team can help. Check out WorkMonger’s Career Coaching services to learn more.
