How do I find part-time jobs?

Are you hoping to move to part-time work but struggling to find part-time jobs? Here’s the guidance I’ve been sharing with job-seekers: focus less on searching for part-time jobs in your search, and instead just look for jobs you like.

The truth is that even if an employer is not actively considering converting a role part-time, they might be open to it for the right candidate. If you find an awesome role that is listed as full-time, consider asking the employer if they’d be open to a flexible schedule for the right candidate. Highlight your experience producing similar, high quality work and your vision for how you might function in that new role.

As an example, I work with a client who is a professional event planner, with extensive experience planning and managing high-stakes events for political and business leaders. What might take someone else 5 hours to complete, might only take them 2 or 3 hours given the systems and structures they already have in place. As this client prepared to interview for an event-planning role in her field, we developed her value proposition statement around the fact that though she was searching for a role with flexible/shorter hours, she felt confident in her ability to produce high quality work and meet the employer’s goals. We focused on her track record of success in her field, her confidence in her ability to fulfill the goals of the role, and shared examples of systems and structures she used in past roles.

Outside of asking employers about whether or not a role can be converted to part-time or flexible hours, many job boards, including TrulyHired, allow you to search for part-time roles.
