After seeing this post, my mind immediately went back to my first days in the ed sector. I went from working at Achievement First as an Education Pioneers Fellow one summer to serving as the Managing Director in the Washington D.C. area for Education Pioneers the next. This is where my passion for education and talent management flourished. After nearly 6 years of serving at Ed Pioneers, my growing desire to improve our nation’s education system through talent led me to ask the question:
“What’s next? What more can I do?”
Soon after posing these questions, I founded WorkMonger. I wanted to revolutionize the online job search process for those who wanted to make a positive impact in the world. To help diverse and talented education advocates find a role uniquely fit for them in the education sector. Since our inception, we’ve been able to match inspiring education organizations that are working to ensure all children receive an excellent education with fantastic job seekers who are uniquely suited for their organization and their open role. And even though we’ve done amazing work (and will continue to do so), around the end of last year, this time it was the WorkMonger team asking ourselves:
“What’s next? What more can we do?”
These questions resulted in amazing new initiatives, including the launch of TrulyHired, the nation’s only education job-board focused exclusively on non-teaching roles. (Just a quick FYI, when you sign up as a new TrulyHired Employer, your first job post is on us! But back to the story.) We expanded the tiers of service we offer our employer clients to now include headhunting, interviewing, and selection process design/execution. We started this Hiring in Ed newsletter for our HR colleagues. We began writing more employer-centric blogs and hosting webinars. We’ve received great feedback for covering topics like hiring for potential, the keys to a compelling job description, crafting engaging internship experiences, powerful ways to attract better talent and much more. Our new projects have allowed us to better connect with our employer and HR colleagues, address real problems going on in the talent and education management space, and provide insight for those seeking to become more effective, engaging and enlightened education organizations. But there’s still more to do. So now, I ask you:
“What’s next? What more can we do?”
As we begin the planning phase for our 2020 content and work, we’d love to hear from you by filling out this quick feedback survey! 11 years in the education space has taught me so much, but there is still far more to learn. We want to make sure we’re covering the things that you’re interested in and passionate about.
What’s preventing you from being the best hiring manager you can be?
If you could get rid of one talent sourcing problem, what is it and how would it help you?
What person or organization inspires you in education and the talent space?
What topic are we not talking about that you wish we would cover?
What topic have we already touched on that you wish we would cover more?
As you reflect on these questions, I’ll add one more that has driven me each step of the way:
“What’s next? What more can YOU do?”
Don’t let this quarter go by without appreciating where you’ve been. But we also want to properly prepare ourselves and plan for a bright future ahead!
Let’s wrap up this decade with such an incredible impact, and with such solid plans for the future, that we can’t help but start 2020 with a bang!
Together,
