How You As A Manager Can Be Supportive
In this edition of Leaders in Education, we will focus on how you, as a manager, can support people of color in the workplace.
AWAKE to WOKE to WORK: Building a Race Equity Culture
Building a Race Equity Culture is the foundational work when organizations seek to advance race equity; it creates the conditions that help us to adopt antiracist mindsets and actions as individuals, and to center race equity in our life and in our work. A Race Equity Culture is the antithesis of dominant culture, which promotes assimilation over integration and dismisses opportunities to create a more inclusive, equitable environment. The work of creating a Race Equity Culture requires an adaptive and transformational approach that impacts behaviors and mindsets as well as practices, programs, and processes.

What Our Job Seekers Say About Our Career Services
I’ve coached many clients in the last few months who have begun working contract and part-time education roles to supplement income amid COVID-19. They’re tutoring and teaching online, delivering virtual professional development, writing curricula, and more. If you’re like my clients, you might be wondering how to frame this recent experience on your resume. Won’t numerous part-time roles take up valuable “resume real-estate” or distract from the more relevant, long-term experience? Instead of listing multiple positions, try this strategy instead:
• List your current job title as “[ Your area of expertise] Consultant” and the Employer as “Self-Employed” or “Various K-12 Organizations” (as an example): “Curriculum & Professional Development Consultant, Self-Employed.”
• Keep the bullets brief: two to four max
• The first bullet can highlight who you’ve worked with and the expertise you leveraged: “Consult and partner with national education organizations in curriculum development, tutoring, and direct instruction; past clients include [list the different companies you’ve worked with]
• The second through fourth bullets (and it can just be a second bullet) should highlight an accomplishment from this contract work or expand on your work (such as number of students served, number of attendees as your virtual training, etc.)
Need support framing your experience as you begin applying for new roles or networking with employers? Our team can help!

Psychologist Glen Moriarty saw that there was great power in listening, but he knew not everyone had someone to talk to. He started to wonder. "How can I make being heard a reality for everyone?"
That's why 7 Cups was born.
